Grip on existing surfaces
A thin layer with a textured finish.
Anti-slip tape combines a self-adhesive backing with a rough surface. The grit adds friction under footwear. Fit individual strips to steps and access points, or cover larger areas where people walk or stand.
The right version depends on moisture, dirt, footwear and loading. Coarse grit for a workshop feels different from a finer finish indoors. We also consider whether the substrate is flat, profiled, porous or coated.
Which grit suits your location?
Fine
A less pronounced abrasive texture where a more subtle surface is preferred. We match grip and contact comfort to the application.
Standard
A versatile grade for many steps, access points and walking surfaces with regular foot traffic, indoors or outdoors on suitable substrates.
Coarse and extra coarse
A more open, robust grit profile for demanding industrial conditions with more dirt. Extra-coarse finishes do not suit every public space.

Versions and options
More choice than a black strip.
Black, coloured or transparent
Make the grip layer stand out or coordinate it with the substrate. Transparent versions retain more of the appearance underneath.
Warning colours and bespoke print
Yellow-and-black, other contrasting colours, text, arrows or a logomark combine grip with identification.
Photoluminescent or reflective
Special versions improve visibility in low light or when illuminated. Photoluminescent areas need sufficient light exposure beforehand.
Conformable for profiled metal
A conformable backing can be pressed into suitable surface relief, such as a metal chequer plate profile.
Damp and marine environments
Select a version for the expected water exposure and, where relevant, salt. Installation still needs a dry, properly prepared substrate.
Chemical exposure
Special surface binders are available for more demanding chemical exposure. The substance, concentration and contact time determine suitability.
Mud and heavy dirt
Larger grit with wider spacing is intended for conditions where a finer texture can clog more quickly. Cleaning remains necessary.
Temporary and removable
A different adhesive allows limited-duration applications. Assess removal and possible residue or damage on the actual substrate.
Thicker or more stable backings
Alternative backings are available for certain substrates and larger areas. We select them for handling, fit and adhesion.
Rolls, wide strips and cut shapes
From narrow grip strips to wider walking areas, rounded tread strips and bespoke shapes. Sizes and availability depend on the version.
Anti-slip plates as an alternative
Where adhesive fixing is unsuitable, a mechanically fixed anti-slip plate may be an option. We assess fixing and edge height separately.
Sport and recreation
Grip surfaces for sports equipment or starting blocks are also possible. Select the finish for movement, loading and type of contact.

Prepare for adhesion
The base must be sound, clean, dry and free of grease. Discuss preparation and a test patch for porous, textured or delicate coated surfaces.
Fit and finish
Pay attention to temperature, pressure, edges and joints. Primer or edge sealing may be needed; fitting instructions vary by version.
Clean and inspect
Remove dirt from the grit and check for wear or lifting edges. Replace damaged strips and address the source of contamination.

Questions about anti-slip tape.
How does it differ from floor marking tape?
Floor marking tape mainly defines and identifies zones. Anti-slip tape has a grip texture. Where both functions are needed, we consider a suitable combination.
Can anti-slip tape be used outdoors?
Outdoor versions are available. The substrate, temperature, moisture, contamination and possible salt exposure determine selection and preparation.
Can it go on chequer plate, wood or concrete?
It depends on the surface. Conformable tape may help on suitable profiled metal; wood and concrete must be sound and suitably finished. We assess porosity, coatings and adhesion first.
Is it suitable for bare feet?
An abrasive grit surface is not automatically suitable for bare feet or skin contact. For these uses we look for an appropriate, less abrasive option and review its product documentation.
Does every tape have the same slip-resistance rating?
No. Test results apply to a particular version and method. Tell us about project requirements so we can check suitable documentation, rather than promise one rating for the whole range.
How long does anti-slip tape last?
This depends on use, contamination, substrate and maintenance. Inspect the grip layer and edges regularly. There is no single service life for every setting.
Can it carry a logo or warning?
Suitable versions can be customised with colours, text, arrows or a logomark. We agree the size, legibility and available construction.
