Airtex wallpaper for businesses: from bare wall to seamless wall mural
Discover how Airtex wallpaper transforms an office, shop or reception area with a professional bespoke wall mural.
Airtex wallpaper is a strong, printable wallcovering that allows a photograph, pattern or brand design to extend across a large wall surface. Within the maximum production dimensions, the material is applied in one piece. This creates a calm wall mural without the strips often seen in traditional wallpaper.
At BlinkOut, Airtex is part of our Wall murals. We take care of the entire process: measuring, advice, design and artwork checks, production using UV or solvent printing, and professional installation in the Netherlands and Belgium.
What exactly is Airtex wallpaper?
Airtex is not paper wallpaper, but a family of printable textile wallcoverings. The standard version consists of a strong polyester backing with a protective coating. A PVC-free version is also available. The best choice depends on the application, the desired appearance and the project requirements.
The material is digitally printed in full colour. BlinkOut uses UV printing or, depending on the chosen version, solvent printing. Almost any suitable image can be turned into a wall-sized design: your own photograph, a brand pattern, a product image, an illustration, a route map or a completely bespoke concept.
Airtex is often described as 'seamless photo wallpaper'. That is understandable, but not every wall can be covered with a single piece, regardless of size. We make full use of the maximum production size for the chosen version. If the wall fits within it, the mural can be installed in one piece. For a larger surface, we agree the most discreet and technically appropriate division in advance.
Why do businesses choose an Airtex wall mural?
1. A large image without distracting strips
A brand image or pattern makes the strongest impression when it flows seamlessly. Because Airtex is produced in large formats, many commercial walls can be covered in a single piece. This avoids mismatched patterns and gives the space a high-quality, cohesive appearance.
2. Designed entirely around your space and brand
An Airtex wall mural is not off-the-shelf decoration. The design is tailored to the wall dimensions, viewing distance, furniture, doors, sockets and other features in the room. You can supply your own images or ask BlinkOut to create the design. Before production, we check the artwork, including its proportions, resolution, crop and important visual elements.
3. A matt, professional appearance
The subtly textured finish gives the print a textile appearance. The surface looks understated and reduces distracting glare, allowing photographs, patterns and brand colours to look their best under office or retail lighting.

4. Less show-through from the surface underneath
Many standard Airtex versions have a grey reverse, also known as greyback. This layer reduces show-through from colour differences and old markings on the wall. It does not mean that a poor surface can be ignored: the wall must still be flat, sound, clean, dry and suitable for adhesive application.
5. A robust wall finish
Airtex is stronger and more dimensionally stable than traditional paper wallpaper. Depending on the chosen version, the surface is scratch-resistant, dirt- and water-repellent, and can be gently wiped clean. This makes it an attractive option for commercial spaces used every day. Maintenance advice is always tailored to the material and printing method.
6. A version with fire certification
Fire-retardant Airtex versions with fire certification are available. This matters for applications in commercial buildings and spaces open to the public. As certification can vary between material versions, we check which certificate applies to the version chosen for your project.
7. A choice of standard or PVC-free
Alongside the familiar coated Airtex, a PVC-free version is available. This gives designers and clients more choice when material composition forms part of the project policy. PVC-free does not automatically mean that the entire mural is fully circular; we therefore assess the material, print, adhesive and replacement together as one project solution.
Where does Airtex wallpaper work well?
A large wall directly influences the atmosphere and identity of a space. Airtex is therefore widely used in:
- reception areas and entrances;
- offices, meeting rooms and staff rooms;
- shops, showrooms and product displays;
- hospitality venues, hotels and leisure facilities;
- schools and healthcare settings;
- exhibition stands and temporary branded spaces.
The image need not be purely decorative. A wall mural can also tell a brand story, present a range, support wayfinding or distinguish different zones. Would you like to treat the entire interior as one cohesive space? Explore our options for Interiors & Decoration.
What should you consider beforehand?
The wall must be suitable
Good installation starts with the surface. It must be flat, sound, clean, dry and free from dust and grease. Flaking paint, damp or a coarse texture can prevent a smooth finish and lasting adhesion. BlinkOut assesses the wall and adapts the installation accordingly.
Large-format printing needs properly prepared artwork
An image that looks sharp on a laptop is not automatically suitable for a room-wide print. The required resolution depends on factors such as size, crop and viewing distance. Logos, text and faces must also be positioned correctly so they do not disappear behind a cupboard, door or switch. That is why we check artwork before production.

'Seamless' has a size limit
We produce Airtex at the largest size technically possible for the chosen version. Many walls fit within a single piece; exceptionally large surfaces do not always do so. In that case, we divide the design to make any join as discreet as possible.
Airtex is not the same as acoustic wallcovering
Standard Airtex primarily changes the appearance of a room and is not an acoustic product. Is sound absorption your main aim? Then acoustic panels or a dedicated acoustic wallcovering would be a more appropriate solution.
Airtex, interior film or a fabric display frame?
| Solution | Best application | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Airtex wall mural | Large, permanent feature wall with an understated finish | Requires a flat, dry wall ready for adhesive application |
| Traditional photo wallpaper | Feature wall made up of separate strips | Strips and joins remain part of the installation |
| Interior film | Hard surfaces, furniture, doors and certain walls | The material and surface determine which film is suitable |
| Fabric display frame | Graphics that need to be changed regularly | A visible frame remains around the fabric |
| Acoustic solution | Visual decoration combined with sound absorption | Thicker construction, technically different from Airtex |
For furniture, doors or other hard interior surfaces, you can also choose interior film. If a campaign image needs to be changed regularly, a fabric display frame is often more practical.

Frequently asked questions about Airtex wallpaper
Is Airtex the same as photo wallpaper?
Airtex is a material used to create photo wallpaper and other printed wall murals. Unlike traditional paper or non-woven wallpaper, it is a strong textile wallcovering that can be installed in one piece within the production size limit.
Is Airtex always completely seamless?
Many commercial walls can be covered in one piece. A wall larger than the maximum production size will need several sections. BlinkOut agrees the most discreet division in advance.
Can I use my own photograph or design?
Yes. You can supply a photograph, illustration, pattern or complete branded design. BlinkOut checks the artwork before production and can also create a bespoke design.
Can Airtex be applied to any wall?
No. The wall must be flat, sound, clean, dry and suitable for adhesive application. We assess the surface beforehand and advise on the right version and installation method.
Is Airtex washable?
Many versions can be gently wiped clean. The suitable cleaning method depends on the material version and printing technique. You will therefore receive maintenance advice for your project.
Does Airtex have fire certification?
Yes, fire-retardant Airtex versions with fire certification are available. BlinkOut checks which current certificate applies to the material used in your project.
Is a PVC-free Airtex version available?
Yes. BlinkOut can supply both a standard coated version and a PVC-free version. We advise on the best fit for the space and project requirements.
Is Airtex suitable for acoustic treatment?
Standard Airtex is not an acoustic wallcovering. Where sound absorption is important, we recommend a dedicated acoustic system.
