Materials & specification
A considered choice for your application.
BlinkOut designs the panel and support as one complete sign. We consider viewing distance, location and intended use, choosing a structure that is practical to maintain.

- Timber & appearance
- Options include chestnut posts and supports. We record the species, dimensions and certification of the selected specification.
- Design & panel
- Bespoke photography, branding, route maps and pictograms. Panel material and finish are selected for use and replacement.
- Location sign: post & panel
- Chestnut post Ø 100–120 mm, total length 2000 mm with 1200 mm above ground. Folded-edge aluminium panel of 300 × 400 or 400 × 600 mm, secured with aluminium band brackets. Installed with a ground anchor.
- Lighting & care
- A lighting canopy is possible on a suitable entrance portal. Accessible connections help with maintenance and later panel changes.
- Location sign: graphics
- Full-colour graphics on matt self-adhesive vinyl or class I (Engineer Grade) retroreflective material, with a matt UV-protective laminate. The timber post and aluminium panel each have their own material basis.
Materials & specification
Timber with provenance and character.
The timber selection determines the support’s appearance. We choose the printed panel and fixings separately to suit your site.
Positive material properties at a glance. Each percentage relates to the named substrate or material layer.
FSC-certified timber
- Composition
- A renewable raw material from a certified supply chain. Chestnut gives posts and supports a natural finish with visible grain and character.
- Suitable use
- For entrance signs, directions and information boards in green surroundings.

From material selection to its next destination.
Design a lasting foundation
A calm timber structure can carry different messages. Put changeable information on a separate panel.
Care for the construction
Check posts, connections and panels periodically. We discuss care suited to the selected species and finish.
Replace only what is needed
A changed route or new identity need not mean a completely new portal. Dismantlable connections enable targeted updates.

Frequently asked questions
Which timber wayfinding systems can you supply?
We use established systems: an entrance portal with lighting canopy, vehicle portals, a map portal and a location sign on a timber post. We adapt the panel design to your site.
Why is timber a considered choice?
Timber is a renewable raw material. FSC-certified sourcing and a considered design give the support responsible provenance and a useful long-term role.
Which timber species are possible?
Options include chestnut for posts and supports. We select the species and dimensions around the desired appearance and construction.
Can the sign carry our own photo or logo?
Certainly. Nature photography, branding, maps or combinations of pictograms make the sign recognisable to your visitors.
Can an entrance portal be lit?
Yes, a suitable version can include a lighting canopy. We consider installation, power connection and maintenance.
Can I change the information later?
We can design for that. Mounting the panel separately allows the timber structure to remain when the message changes.
Do you provide design and installation?
Yes. BlinkOut helps from route planning and graphic design to the selected specification, fixings and installation.
