Active Ants: a clear identity on a large logistics building

The story behind this project

An identity that suits the scale of the building

A large logistics building needs exterior signage that works at the same scale. For Active Ants at Borchwerf in Roosendaal, we supplied and installed a fabric lightbox with internal LED lighting. The orange brand panel and blue ‘E-commerce logistiek’ panel create a distinctive point of recognition against the grey façade.

The brief was for a large illuminated sign, including installation. We considered its position, the relationship between the logo and the building, and access from inside the warehouse. This brought the visual design and practical installation together from the outset.

Backlit fabric brings print and light together

A fabric lightbox uses a light-transmitting printed face tensioned within a frame. LEDs sit behind the print and illuminate the image from within. The fabric creates one continuous graphic surface, giving the brand name and colour layout room to stand out.

For Active Ants, this construction provided a clean, consistent appearance across a large sign. White lettering contrasts with the orange and blue brand panels. With this type of signage, printing, fabric tension and lighting need to work together: the aim is a coherent illuminated image, rather than a print considered in isolation.

From agreed position to installation at height

Installing a lightbox high on a building also calls for preparation behind the scenes. The final position was recorded in an artwork proof. The power connection and access to the inside of the wall were agreed, while architectural elevation drawings helped prepare the installation.

A crane and access platform were used to lift the lightbox into position and secure it to the façade. The result is a distinctive brand feature that suits both the building’s scale and its clean architectural lines.
