The story behind this project

A modular beach post with a clear purpose

A beach post needs to be recognisable among sand, dunes and other facilities. For Adapteo, BlinkOut produced signage for the lifeguard post in Hoek van Holland. Orange rooflines and blue lettering give the building a clear visual identity.

The Strandwacht Hoek van Holland wording sits on the upper floor, identifying the building’s purpose above the individual doors and units. Colour accents connect the modular sections into a recognisable whole.

Coordinating depot preparation and site installation

For a modular building, preparation and final placement can take place at different stages. This project was coordinated with Adapteo’s depot in Oude-Tonge, where the units were made available for the graphics work.

The building is then assembled at its final location. The May photographs show the post on the beach, including the lettering on its upper floor. This approach requires dimensions and a layout that work when the units come together.

Roofline colour and lettering have different roles

The orange band defines the building’s outline. Blue lettering provides the main message. Separating these roles keeps the signage clear: colour connects the units, while text identifies their purpose.

Film can add colour or wording to existing surfaces. On a modular beach post, this requires attention to profile edges, joins and the condition of the substrate. Material selection needs to suit both the surface and the setting.

A building seen as a coherent whole

Up close, individual doors and facade profiles are visible. From further away, the orange line and lifeguard wording stand out. The signage works with both viewpoints and gives the post a consistent appearance.
