Outdoor signage
Bull Gym: a bold welcome in one consistent visual style
A strong identity from the roadside to the training area
An illuminated bull logo, acrylic fascia letters, a sign totem and interior logos bring Bull Gym’s identity to its new premises in Essen.

The story behind this project
A new location with a distinct identity
For its move to Spijker in Essen, Bull Gym wanted its identity to feature throughout the premises. The request covered facade signage, an existing roadside sign totem and logos for the training and changing areas. BlinkOut developed these applications as a coordinated scheme.
The position of the exterior logo mattered. It needed to sit on the right because a tree limits the view of the centre of the facade. The design was therefore adapted to the actual sightline from the road.
Balancing illumination and dimensional lettering
The bull symbol on the facade is a shaped illuminated sign. The name below uses unlit acrylic letters on stand-offs. This combination gives the symbol and company name their own roles within the composition.
The acrylic lettering was specified at 8 millimetres thick. Stand-offs bring the letters away from the facade, creating a dimensional effect in daylight. Illumination is concentrated in the logo; the name is not described as a separately illuminated set of letters.

One brand adapted to each surface
Inside, PVC logos with the name and a white outline appear against dark walls. Their contrast keeps the symbol recognisable in the training area. An outline design for the changing area complements the wall’s metallic appearance.
The roadside totem was considered too. Its message and imagery were adapted to the range of visitors the gym wants to attract. A strong gym identity does not require an identical treatment on every surface: relief, film and illumination each play a different part.
Recognition throughout the premises
Outside, the signage identifies the building; inside, the same identity appears in the training and changing areas. Yellow, white and black connect the applications. The photographs show both the facade and interior details.
A move or new branch is an opportunity to consider signage as a whole. BlinkOut can help assess sightlines, choose materials and translate your identity into interior and exterior applications.
