EssilorLuxottica: black by day, white at night
Dimensional fascia lettering for the Wijchen premises
The EssilorLuxottica name takes a clear position on the dark fascia in Wijchen, with channel letters shaped around the company logo.

The story behind this project
The company name at the scale of the building
EssilorLuxottica requested a proposal for its logo on the front and rear of the Wijchen premises. The enquiry included logo information and building drawings, with installation requested as a separate part of the proposal.
BlinkOut translated the name into dimensional facade signage. The photographs show the lettering on a dark fascia and above the entrance. The elongated logo suits the building’s horizontal layout and gives the name a clear position.
Letter shapes based on the logo
For a company name with distinctive typography, letter height is only part of the design. Shapes, spacing and overall width work together to keep the logo recognisable. The execution also needs to fit the available facade space.
The supplied artwork and building information therefore provide important starting points. The lettering is assessed as a complete composition, considering its position above the entrance and contrast with the fascia.

Black by day, white at night
EssilorLuxottica’s channel letters have a day-and-night face. In daylight, the face appears black. When the illumination is switched on, light from inside the casing passes through the face, making the visible letter surface white. The 3D comparison shows these two appearances.
This combines dark lettering in daylight with a clear white illuminated appearance in the evening. The logo retains the same shape; its face changes optically when lit. The LED modules inside the casing, their distance from the face and the light-transmitting material are coordinated. The face therefore plays an important part in both the daytime identity and the appearance after dark.

Signage that works with the architecture
The dark fascia provides a calm frame for the company name. By day, the black day-and-night face complements this appearance. When illuminated, the white letter faces give the name a different contrast. The dimensional lettering keeps its recognisable shape in both settings.
Would you like to turn your logo into fascia lettering? BlinkOut can help with proportions, daytime and evening appearance, and installation. Vector artwork and a photograph or drawing of the facade provide a useful basis for a proposal.
