Mulder van Mill

A distinctive signage pylon for the Rotterdam dealership

The story behind this project

Recognition before you reach the showroom

Visitors to a car dealership need to recognise the right location as they approach. For Mulder van Mill in Rotterdam, we delivered a freestanding signage pylon beside the site. Its slender dark shape and blue-and-white branding create a clear point of reference.

The project was commissioned through the design agency. We coordinated the artwork and technical development so the proportions of the pylon matched the intended brand presentation.

Getting the proportions right

On a tall, narrow pylon, the layout determines how the name is read. During the proofing stage, the logo was reduced in size and moved closer to the top. This adjustment gives the branding space and makes use of the vertical format.

Blue and white contrast with the dark background. Positioning the pylon beside the site adds a point of recognition beyond the façade, making the name visible from a different approach to the showroom.

A freestanding brand presence

A signage pylon combines branding with careful positioning on a site. Its form, height, reading direction and relationship with the surroundings need to work together. This pylon was specified as an illuminated sign; the daylight photographs show its shape, colour scheme and position.

The structure at ground level also needs attention. Supporting construction, fixings and preparation for the electrical supply form part of the technical coordination around installation. These details help translate the design into a physical object suited to its location.

From transport to landmark

The photographs show the pylon in transit, being lifted and standing beside the showroom. Together, they illustrate how a large signage object is brought into position and becomes part of a site.
